According to a Ranking.com, as of September 2008, the following sites are the 50 most frequented websites on the internet:
NEXT FIVE: Tagged.com, Imeem.com, hi5.com, Orkut.com, Digg.com
THE OTHER 40: LinkedIn.com, Ning.com, StumbleUpon.com, Friendster.com, Buzznet.com, Multiply.com, twitter.com, cyworld.com, Netlog.com, livejournal.com, WikiHow.com, Squidoo.com, Flixster.com, Sonico.com, epinions.com, Technorati.com, Xanga.com, skyrock.com, yelp.com, CafeMom.com, fastpitchnetworking.com, Propeller.com, Fotolog.com, Current.com, revver.com, Care2.com, Ryze.com, Mixx.com, Badoo.com, Tribe.net. I haven’t heard of about half of them, or at least I don’t know much about them – just goes to show you that everybody’s got an opinion. I personally use Ning, YouTube, Facebook, Bebo, Digg, StumbleUpon, Twitter, Squidoo, Fastpitchnetworking, Ryze, Zing and a few others regularly. It’s tough and time-consuming to stay on top of what’s not and what’s not. Some marketers make their living online doing just that in order to keep us informed.
Remember, this is not the end-all and be-all of rankings. But it does give you a good idea of who’s doing what out there in the world of Social Networking – today, that is. Longevity in this universe can mean a year or two. So keep checking back. I’m going to be spending time at each of these social media resources and letting you know what I do and don’t like about each of them. I encourage you to leave your comments about your favorites here, or ones you just can’t stand. Should make for some interesting reading and might prove to be very helpful for all of us.
